New Columbia is well known for being the largest mass-producer of Melon Ponsuke, exporting 80,000 tonnes per month. Related, its national animal is the pinniped, which thrives in the country's colder climates.
New Columbia's flag design consists of a blue rectangle with a white star in the middle, representing the ocean and the largest landmass, respectively. The rays in a Siemens star formation represent the culture that emerged on the islands years ago. Its coat of arms is the Melon Ponsuke, which too represents the country's culture and what it is well known for.
History
The Kingdom of New Columbia was founded in 1872 by an unknown individual. During that time, the inhabitants developed a strong bond with the pinnipeds, quickly making them the country's national animal.
The monarchy was overthrown on 30 March 1966, marking the beginning of the republic. A new constitution was then set in place on 4 July 1969, and is still in effect as of today.
On 6 September 2022, the New Columbian government developed plans in case a total seal extinction happens to ensure its culture lasts for thousands of years to come.
