Shimeji simulation is a manga about . It follows Shijima, a girl who has spent so long staying in a closet that mushrooms have sprouted from her head. The story follows her going to school after years of isolation, connecting with an outgoing-yet-lonely girl named Majime, and experiencing the strange events in the town, such as staying in a closet for so long that mushrooms have sprouted from her head.

As of November 26, 2023, the 49th and final chapter has been published, leaving all fans of peak downtrodden.

Shimeji Simulation is known for incorporating many philosophical questions in the story, often directly stated by the characters.
