Bus

From The Wiki Camp 2
Jump to navigation Jump to search

A bus is a vehicle with wheels that go round and round, wipers that go swish swish swish, drivers that go "Move on back!", lots of people that go up and down, a horn that goes beep beep beep, babies that go wah wah wah, and parents that go shh shh shh all through the town.

Buses are the foundation of any decent public transit system. That doesn't mean said system is based—that applies to those with trams, metros, and/or trains in most cases. But at least there would be less cars on the streets.

Notable bus models

City bus

Found in cities. Again, they are foundational for any public transit system.

Coach

The long-distance ones. Comes with more comfortable seats and more legroom.

School bus

Designed for taking students to school. In the United States and Canada, school buses are usually yellow.

Shuttle bus

Takes you from A to B with little to no intermediate stops. Commonly found near airports.

Minibus

Double-decker bus

The power of two... floors!

Single-decker bus

That divided by 2.

Low-floor bus

Virtually all cities tend to use these more often due to their accessibility.

Step-entrance bus

That was the norm back then. Unfortunately less accessible.

Trolleybus

They run on overhead wires. Electricity is transferred through a trolley pole, similar to a tram.

Articulated bus

They have multiple sections and also look squeezy like an accordion.

Guided bus

They are guided on rails like a train, though they can use regular streets too.

Neighbourhood bus

Intended for smaller streets.

Training bus

Useful for upcoming bus drivers.

Gyrobus

Very unique. It has a rotor called a flywheel that is moved to very high speeds. The kinetic energy is eventually transferred and maintained as rotational energy. Remember the law of conservation of energy, which states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed; it can only be transferred from one form to another.

Hybrid bus

It can run on fuel and electricity via a battery.

Police bus

Useful for transporting large amounts of officers.

Off-road bus

They exist. They are commonly used by The Military.

Open-top bus

Perfect for tourism.
