San Diego is a city on the southern tip of California, adjacent to the Mexican city of Tijuana. This place SUUUUUUCKS.

History

San Diego was named after the Franciscan mission the city was dedicated to, which in turn was named after Spanish Catholic Saint Didacus of Alcalá, who was one of the first missionaries to make it to the Canary Islands. But more importantly, it was named after the studio that created Go, Diego, Go!, despite being far away from the Peruvian Amazon. I mean, who would expect a tapir in California?

Transport

The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, or MTS for short, is the city's public transit agency. It is well known for its red-feathered vehicles, similar to a male northern cardinal. The MTS operates regular bus services, "Rapid" BRT, and of course, the San Diego Trolley, which is, in fact, a light rail transit network. Nevertheless, the Trolley remains one of the most iconic urban rail systems in the United States.

The North County Transit District's COASTER is a diesel-powered double-decker commuter rail service connecting downtown San Diego with Oceanside. A typical train consists of a Siemens SC-44 and a rake of Bombardier BiLevel Coaches. At Oceanside, connections can be made with SPRINTER trains (two-car Siemens Desiro diesel multiple units) and Metrolink trains to arch-rival Los Angeles. You can bypass all that and go the quick way to LA on Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner, which can reach speeds of up to 90 mph.
