Tokens are game items in The Wiki Camp 2 that can be played during the economic period to have some effect on the game. Tokens are given to players at the end of challenges for achieving various things often specific to the challenge. Four of the tokens currently available originate from The Wiki Camp 1 which also featured two additional tokens; the Homework Token and Folder Token. Although many of them were given out, season 1 featured no token plays, so their exact effects are unknown. It is speculated that they would have worked in a similar fashion to season 2's tokens. Season 2 also features three new tokens which were added at the start of Challenge 6.

Unlike in many other similar games, token effects are not determined beforehand by the host, but rather determined by the contents of their wiki page which can be freely edited. Once a token is played for the first time, its page is protected and its effects locked in for all future uses of that token. Novel tokens are locked at the moment they're canonized.

Weasel Token

The Weasel Token has the effect of deducting points from the user's score.

History

The Weasel Token's page was originally set to make them function like hot potatoes that can be passed to other players by pinging them on Discord. The original text of the page said that if a player is in possession of a weasel token for over 48 contiguous hours they are eliminated from the game. After only a day of edits the page became a web of random selection which depending on all their states either meant that they do or don't function like hot potatoes, or do or don't provide extra points in challenges if redeemed.

Upon Miso playing the first Weasel Token during Challenge 2: Teams, the random selection was frozen at its first load. This state of the page meant that the token did not function as a hot potato, and didn't provide extra points. Upon analysis of the results, it was discovered that Miso's team (Team 17) had received a penalty for seemingly no reason. It was deduced[1] that the penalty was a result of the token play, and the realization came that the token pages determine their effects.

Nutshell Token

The following section describes the old version of the Nutshell Token that applied during challenge 4. Challenge 5 and onward use a fully rewritten version of this token.

  • The user picks a page and there are various effects depending on the type of page they pick.
    • Picking a competitor page effectively removes that competitor from being up for elimination in the coming voting period. Eliminated competitors not on a team instead receive 2 shares and must abstain from all but one of the board decisions in the next challenge.
    • Picking a team page distributes 1 share across all team members. One-member teams instead have their one member moved to Nutshell (Team). In both cases the team gets a special voting condition active for the challenge's voting period where they can only vote amongst themselves and can't receive votes from other teams.
    • Picking The Toy Where You Put The Shape In The Corresponding Hole deletes the page and lengthens how long its creation is locked by a month.
    • Picking a token page gives one of that token to a random still-in competitor who doesn't already have said token. If The Divine Goddess has one, it comes from Her, but if not it is created and the token's value decreases.
    • Picking The Divine Goddess redistributes half of the shares from the shareholder with the most shares to all other shareholders.
    • Picking anything else only makes that page officially considered to have a nutty aroma.
  • Nutshelled pages are unprotected and 0.01 shares are given to one of the six CrystalForces for each of their byte counts.
  • The Nutshell Token's sell price increaces by 5%.
  • In a Nutshell Jr. is renamed to Joseph Robinette Biden and if he has only rejoined once he rejoins on the team Democratic Party. He recieves immunity for the next challenge. If he has already joined he is discombobulated THIS IS IN NO WAY A SERIOUS LET ALONE POTENTIAL THREAT TO ANY LIVING ELECTED OFFICIAL OR PRESIDENT AND THAT "Joe Biden" and "Joseph Robinette Biden" (used interchangeably on this domain) REFER TO A FICTIONAL REPRESENTATION OF SAID PERSON WHOSE LIFE IS NOT BEING ENDANGERED BY ANY STATEMENTS MADE ON THIS WEBSITE. THANK YOU.
  • There's a 10% chance that The Tower is brought into effect.
  • User gets $1.
  • A random still in competitor is given 1 Reddit Gold.

History

Upon users finding out about their power over token effects, the remaining token pages were flooded with edits describing and altering new effects. The first Nutshell Token was not used until Challenge 4: Things where three competitors (all on Team 17) used their nutshell tokens; Copper Pepper, McDonald's Sweet n' Sour Sauce, and Big Boy. While some of the effects described in the page went through as intended, some others didn't quite make it through exactly as intended.

This also saw the first use of the crater template which was used to mark effects outside of The Divine Goddess's jurisdiction. Two effects were cratered; "Morrigreen's discord account will no longer be Morrigreen#2763", and the hot potato effect from the original Weasel Token. There was fine print on the page which read "When played, it makes the next challenge relate to cowboys in some way.", but it is unknown if this effect will be applied, as the current revision makes it illegible. The original intention of the "In a Nutshell" effect was that the user who plays the character who played the token is the one who plays In a Nutshell. However, the way this was interpreted was that the character who played the token would be the one playing In a Nutshell.

In Challenge 5, there was a board decision to reset the token's effects and reopen the page to rewrite it. Information on its new effects will be added here once the page is locked again.

Old effects

These were the token's effects before it was unlocked and rewritten.

The Nutshell Token has multiple effects.

  • Encases a random page in a "nutshell" and protects it from further edits.
  • User:CrystalForce becomes associated with the character CrystalForce and is able to receive trade offers from players during the economic period. (Applies twice)
  • User:CrystalForce plays as In a Nutshell Jr.
  • The character who plays the token (not the user who plays the character) will begin playing as In a Nutshell in addition to any other characters they may be playing.
    • They will be removed from playing In a Nutshell if they were already playing as them.
    • If the number of people playing In a Nutshell exceeds 12, the person who has been playing In a Nutshell the longest will be removed from playing them.
    • The player will be removed from playing In a Nutshell after 64 days have passed.
    • When a player is removed from playing In a Nutshell, and if In a Nutshell is still in, they will return to playing as the characters they were playing prior to playing the token.
    • User:GopyXP can not be removed from playing In a Nutshell.
  • None of the effects above apply to THE BIG CHEESE; instead, he gets a random unofficial token.
  • The user gets half a share.

Beans Token

Upon a Beans Token being played, the user gets 100,000 dollars from someone's bank account. A randomly selected article in Category:People gets the category Category:Deceased (official). It also allows the user to pick a competitor to be moved to their team.

History

The original version of the Beans Token involved many effects, but upon the first one being used, Satomi moved the page to Bean's Token, and a new version of the token was created at Beans Token which was protected within minutes of it being created. After being protected, "someone" and "person" were made into links for the pages Someone and Category:People. Notably, Someone was a nonexistent page at time of linking, and after being created was protected a minute later.a

History

The dollar was made as a response to the effect of the Beans Token, which grants 100,000 dollars on redeeming. The icon is an edited image of a dollar to have a picture of Epic Rap Battles of History's President Joe Biden replacing the portrait, chosen most likely because of its appearance on page Someone.

Snowball Token

A snowball token has not yet been played, so its effects are still up in the air.

Blessed Token

Boomerang Token

The boomerang token is a novel token which has one simple effect.

When played, the user receives a Boomerang Token.

This is a play on boomerangs which are often thought of as "always coming back," although in reality this was not always true. Whenever one plays this token, the token comes back like a boomerang and they can not get rid of it unless they sell it.

Fire Flower Token

Non-token items

Dollar

The purchasing power of a dollar is currently unknown.
