Challenge 2: Teams

From The Wiki Camp 2
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Alrighty! Welcome back to THe Wiki Camp 2! I'm your very epic Divine Goddess, and this is Challenge 2!

Quitters

There was one quitter. How epic is that? Well, I mean, if you want to quit, that's fine, just let Me know. No hard feelings.

Challenge

IT'S TEAMS AGAIN GUYS!!! THE FAN-FAVORITE CHALL'G FROM LAST TIME!!!

It'll be similar to last time, but not the same, so read carefully and pretend it's your first time reading. Wait, no, you at least know the alphabet. And words. And numbers too. And thinking. You know thinking. YOU GET WHAT I MEAN!!!

  1. Create a team page (optional if you want to join an existing team).
    • Make a page for the team!
    • Add it to the Category:Teams (official) category! This way, I can know what you consider to be a team, and others will know what teams can be joined!
    • Make sure the page at least contains a header (Heading 1, or just Heading, the one made out of two equalses on either side, you know?) called "Members" which contains a bulleted list for members of the team to be listed in. This should be empty during step 1. Bulleted lists can be created using asterisks, you know.
  2. Probably the first actual step for most of you. This is where you JOIN a team!
    • Put a link to your character in the bulleted list of a team page, with their name displayed readably-enough for Me to know who it is. No trickery please.
    • Only the player of a character is allowed to add that character to the bulleted list. You can't add other people to your team.
  3. Rules about that.
    • You can only be on only one team by the deadline.
      • You can be on multiple teams until then, but try to remove yourself from all but one of the teams before the deadline. Or else I may smite you with the force of a thousand suns or whatever. So watch out.
      • THAT MEANS YOU'LL BE ELIMINATED
    • Be on a team or else.
      • "Or else what?" Come on.
    • Existing pages are allowed to be transmuted into team pages during this challenge, although this may be reversed if there's nobody on them by the time the challenge ends.
    • You're allowed to make team pages based on Wanted Pages.
      • You don't have to though. And in fact, maybe don't! Although, maybe do. A variety would be nice. Some new pages from wanted pages, some transmuted, some completely new, etc. I think I may have forgotten to award points for variety last time, so, I don't know, maybe I'll forget again. I'm so unpredictable like that.
    • Only the player of a character is allowed to remove themself from a team. You can't remove other people from a team.
      • You can ask nicely though!
        • I will not be enforcing "asking nicely".
    • The page must be in the main namespace, and must not have been used for Challenge 1.
    • Information I left out does not exist. I may add more rules to this though, shrug.
  4. The fun part!!!
    • Decorate the team page. Have a blast!!!
    • NO EDIT WARS.
    • As for your existing character pages from Challenge 1, you can feel free to keep updating them! But you also don't have to.
      • You're welcome to add the team you're on to your character page, but you are not required to.
      • Editing another player's character page is NOT ALLOWED!
  5. Eliminated contestants may not be on teams.
    • Eliminated contestants do not have to stop editing the wiki.
  6. Additional rules are in the Half Time section below.

Deadline

Thursday, October 13, at noon eastern. No countdown this time since those things suck and don't work right.

However, Half Time will occur on Friday, October 7. Try to have your team pages in the category by then!

Half Time

Welcome to Half Time! Here are the final teams:

Now for some additional rules!

  1. These are the final teams!
    • You are not allowed to remove these pages from the Teams (official) category!
    • You are not allowed to add more pages to the Teams (official) category!
    • You are not allowed to move these pages!
  2. Teams now have a maximum and minimum size!
    • Teams must have at most 12 members!
    • Teams must have at least 2 members!
      • Teams with exactly 2 members will receive a prize!
      • Oooh you want the prize so bad!
      • The prize is a powerful bonus that you can use to your advantage!
    • Teams violating these limits will be eliminated! Watch out!

You may think this is a bit evil of Me to impose. And you're right. Mwahahahaha!!!

Have fun figuring out your teams for the rest of the challenge! Deadline is the same!

Judging Criteria

Have fun and don't be a stinker! <3

Token Plays

Add a topic to the talk page for this article to play a token! Here, I'll add one of those silly boxes. ONLY DO THIS IF YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A TOKEN TO PLAY. I DON'T WANT THAT PAGE CROWDED WITH FAKE TOKEN PLAYS. Make sure to sign it with four tildes when you go and make the actual post! And please, you know, specify which token you want to use and how many of it you want to use.

Anyway, here's the token plays:

Token plays here please!

Challenge Results

We got 18 teams! Wow!!! What a surprise! Just kidding, it's not a surprise. We all saw Half Time.

Competitors have been by the criteria above, as well as some other stuff. As usual.

WHAT THE FUCK? HOW DID YOU GUYS REACH THE WARP ZONE

To compensate you for the potential danger, I'm offering you ten shares! One for each member! So, that puts you on the board.

Now... time for me to fix this warp zone business!

Corrected Challenge Results

Okay! Here we go. I've put the warp zoners at the exact average of all the scores listed here. That should make up for the lack of a score!

I've also broken the results into three perfectly-even thirds! Voting will be explained in the next section.

Voting

So here's how the voting's going to work.

If you fail to vote by tuesday night, I'll count your vote as being cast at yourself. So make sure to vote!

How to vote

You can vote by private messaging User:Satomi using the SocialProfile extension that I haven't installed yet! So, voting is not open yet. Please wait until I install the extension. I'm going to do it immediately.

Two-membered teams' dilemma, and details regarding ties

Hi, it's Me, The Divine Goddess, as it has been for the whole article that I've been writing the whole time. So, normally if I create fun little dilemma games, I like to let them get discovered by the people involved, instead of explaining the game. But I figured I may as well go ahead and explain it here so people don't get all scared.

Here's how voting works. For ALL the teams. If you can manage a tie, nobody gets eliminated. I may change this rule in future challenges, but for now, this is how it works.

What this means, is that if you're on a two-person team, and you each vote for the other person, neither of you will be eliminated.

I guess this is unfair to prime-numbered teams. Or, well, wait, it isn't! Because if all of you just vote for yourself, none of you will get eliminated! But are you really willing to take that risk?

Anyway, it's safest for two-person teams to do it. Because this is just how you'd already be voting!

(Of course, if you have to eliminate two people, and you tie the top 2, that won't count.)

Oh, and, the tie only works if it's a team-wide tie. I can get more into detail but I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out.

YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO VOTE ON PEOPLE FROM YOUR OWN TEAM. THIS TIME

Voting Mechanics

  • The number of people a team needs to eliminate (0, 1, 2) represents a MAXIMUM.
    • A team that must eliminate 1 person can reduce this to 0 by spreading the votes evenly across more than one candidate.
      • This works by removing the tied candidates from the pool of people who could be eliminated, so a 2/2/1 split would still result in the person who got 1 vote being eliminated.
    • A team that must eliminate 2 people can:
      • reduce this to 1 by having everyone on the team vote out the same, single person (including the person needing to vote for themself).
      • reduce this to 0 by spreading the votes evenly across more than two candidates.
        • This works by removing the tied candidates from the pool of people who could be eliminated, so a 2/2/2/1/1 split would still result in the two people who got 1 vote each both being eliminated.
  • When votes are revealed, only the quantities and the people eliminated will be shown, not who got which quantities. So you'll see, like, 0/2/4 and only know who got the 4, not who got the 0 or the 2.
  • You are required to vote using the private feature. Public votes will not be counted, starting now.
    • For this challenge's voting period only, I'll still count public votes, assuming they're a mistake. But private votes take precedence.
  • Your most recent private vote will be the one I count, so you can change your vote at any time by resending, as long as it's before the deadline.
  • You may only vote for one person.

Is the SocialProfile extension installed yet?

Yes. This is how to use it:

  1. Navigate to User:Satomi (the person who will be receiving the votes)
  2. MAKE SURE TO SET THAT THING TO "PRIVATE" UNLESS YOU WANT EVERYONE TO BE ABLE TO SEE YOUR VOTE
  3. You may only vote for one person.
  4. Hit "send". You know how to use a computer.
  5. Do it before the end of tuesday!
    1. Before the end of tuesday, you can send additional messages if you want to change your vote.

Where'd my userpage go??!

Relax! It's still there! It's just sort of semi-hidden while this extension is installed. I'm uninstalling it after voting ends.

If you're a fan of these userpages, I'm sorry, but I'll be having them disabled most of the time. Think of their periodic existence as like a splatfest or something.

Why is my real name there on my profile????!!!

You entered it in an optional field when signing up. Please feel free to remove it from there. Sorry. But also it's not My fault. Still, sorry.

Elimination

Hi everyone! Before we get started I just want to apologize about the turbulent voting system I ended up setting up. It sucks. And I'm sorry. I'll make it better next time.

Additionally, I want to be transparent about some further stipulations I implemented while collecting the votes.

  • A person who received 0 votes cannot be eliminated.
  • Failing to vote only casted a vote on oneself if one's team had a positive number of people to eliminate.

I think most people assumed this behavior, but I realized it wasn't properly outlined, so I have put it in writing here. Though, again I'm definitely tweaking the voting system next time.

Now, let's get to the elimination!

Not on a team

People, you are only supposed to vote for competitors who are in the game! You were not supposed to vote for Joseph Robinette Biden, Harry Truman, Arlo, or Nerpy Scuba! Please be careful next time, and double check that your voting target is actually in the game.
