Europe has a rich history when it comes to rail transport. Its continental network is a unique blend of operations using a vast array of steam, diesel, and electric locomotives and multiple units, from vintage steam trains in the coniferous forests of Germany to TGV high-speed trains cruising through the French countryside; from the world-renowned London Underground in England to Swiss mountain railways sneaking through the Alps; from the highly accessible Dutch railway network to the longest rail corridor in the world, the Trans-Siberian Railway in Russia. Much of Europe's railway network is nationalized, such as SNCF in France, DB in Germany, and Renfe in Spain. With it comes reliable and accessible services in multiple sectors. This makes Europe a leader in rail transport around the Real World. Europe is also known for its numerous tram, light rail, and metro networks scattered throughout the continent.

This post covers the most unique operations in every country with a train system.
