France is a country in Europe, bordering Spain and Andorra to the southwest, Monaco and Italy to the southwest, Switzerland and Germany to the west, and Luxembourg and Belgium to the northwest. France is known for its romantic settlements, quaint alpine scenery, and relaxing Mediterranean beaches. And plus, no trip to France is complete without a visit to the capital city of Paris, the City of Light, home to such landmarks as the Eiffel Tower. Beyond Paris, there are options aplenty. You can bike across the Pyrenees as if you were in the Tour de France or meditate beneath the quiet of Taizé. You can speak Occitan in Occitania or Breton in Brittany. You can fly past the countryside on a TGV train or take in the sights from a hot air balloon (or montgolfière, in honour of two of their own). On a culinary note, France is more than baguettes and croissants. There's quiche and crêpes, as well as some of the best wine out there. Wildlife is aplenty in France, from marmots to lynx to wolf packs.

Though France once had a lot of territory, from Algeria to Madagascar, it's been liberated. Yay!
