Thailand is a country in Southeast Asia. It is a hot spot for tourists, with tropical beaches, Buddhist temples, and impressive palaces. The capital Bangkok is bursting with life. The island of Phuket is a tourist's dream, while Chiang Mai, with its ancient walls and moats, brings Southeast Asian history to life. Tuk-tuks and songthaews shuttle passengers across the busy streets. How fun. In fact, fun (sanuk) is in the DNA of the Thai people. It can't get more fun than on Songkran, the traditional New Year's celebration with a water fight across town. There's also Loy Krathong, the famous festival of lanterns.
