Haiti lies on the western side of Hispaniola, with the Dominican Republic occupying the east. Though officially a francophone nation, the most widely spoken language in Haiti is the most widely spoken creole.
Haiti has two prevalent religions, Christianity and Vodou, descending from African, Indigenous, and Catholic traditions.
