Liberia
Liberia is a West African country whose flag bears a close resemblance to that of the United States. Overall, Liberia has had several relations to the United States in hits history. It was founded by freed Black people resettled in the capital Monrovia. Similarly, former president George Weah, Africa's only Ballon d'Or winner, saw his son Timothy Weah play at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
11% of the world's ships are registered in Liberia for economic reasons. This accounts to 2,771 ships, though of these, only 190 are Liberian-owned vessels. This is a similar case to Malta's 1,437 foreign-owned ships.
