Malta
Malta is a tiny Mediterranean island nation off the coast of Italy. It has been ruled by many empires over the years, from the Romans to the Moors to the British, and is currently an EU member state. Malta's capital is tiny Valletta, known for its 16th-century buildings constructed by the Knights Hospitaller, who came from Rhodes in 1530. Today's Sovereign Military Order of Malta is a successor order of the Knights Hospitaller, though it is based in the Italian capital of Rome.
It was said in the Acts of the Apostles that Saint Paul the Apostle was once shipwrecked here.
