Paraguay
Paraguay is a South American country home to swamps, scrubland, and subtropical forests, among others. Its capital Asunción lies on the banks of the Paraguay River. The lines in Paraguay's dual-sided flag are one of few flags where they're parallel[citation needed]. Most Paraguayans are of Guaraní descent, and Paraguayan Guaraní remains a widely spoken language in Paraguay.
Paraguay can be divided into 17 departments and the capital district. These include the Alto Paraná with Ciudad del Este (the country's second-largest city), the highly populated Central with creative Areguá, and the surprising-at-first-glance-ly named Presidente Hayes Department with Villa Hayes as its capital. This came after United States President Rutherford B. Hayes stepped in and awarded the territory to Paraguay after a border dispute with Argentina following the Paraguayan War against the Triple Alliance of Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay.
Paraguay is just barely diametrically opposed to the northern tip of the Philippines.
