Celeste, that mountain-climbing platformer starring Madeline, is the most Canadian video game ever.

Music

Celeste has one of the most ethereal-sounding OSTs in the industry.

The creator of the Celeste OST, Lena Raine, wanted the music to let people understand the emotion behind anxiety and depression. This mindset can also be seen in their hit pop country song Pigstep where the goal was to give the listener the ability to understand how it feels to be a Pig.

The colour

Apparently celeste is also a colour.

Story

Celeste is a game about climbing a mountain. If you get more literal, its about climbing a metaphorical mountain. Throughout her adventure, Madeline comes to terms with her anxiety, depression, and lack of being a mountain climber through tough emotional battles and a hatred of mirrors. All that being said, you're literally just climbing a mountain.

Gameplay

Celeste is arguably a platformer with hints of psychological horror. Aside from the multiple horrifying chase scenes, the gameplay consists mostly of throwing yourself into a wall until the wall falls over on top of you. The basic movement elements are Hyper-Dashes, Extended Hyper-Dashes, Wave-Dashes, Reversals, Ultra-Dashes, Bunny Hopping, Demo-Dashes, Wall-Bounces (From a dash), Neutral-Jumping, Corner-Boosting, and Spike-Jumps. Much harder techniques that even the top level players can't do are Walking, Dashing (no post dash inputs), Climbing, Jumping (no post jump inputs), and Dying.

Levels

Celeste has seven main levels, two bonus levels, another eight bonus levels, and another eight bonus levels.

Game night

Two Celeste game nights in the Wiki Camp VC saw User:SGuySMW summit the mountain for the first time in over seven hours.
