The harp seal (Pagophilus groenlandicus) is one of the ugliest pinnipeds that are not part of the genus Pusa. Its pup is the world-famous stereotypical baby seal that is pure white when born, just liked a stuffed toy. Adults, now grey, have notable black markings on the upperside of their body, sort of like a harp or a horseshoe.
