Challenge 3: Edit War
Hey everyone! That's right, it's finally time for the EDIT WAR!
Quitters
There have been no quitters yet, although someone quit during the voting period in the previous challenge so go check that out. Quitters forfeit their Shares to the Divine Goddess.
Actually, Wrecking Ball just quit. See you later, Wrecking Ball!
Kumon has also quit. See you later, Kumon! Your entry will still be judged, so as not to disrupt the structure of the judging array.
First, I want to introduce the shares. You heard about them last challenge. Ten people received one share each, and one of them forfeited their share to Me. Shareholders have seats on the Board.

Trading
Trading shares is allowed, but only during the token playing period. Thus, this list of board members represents the board for this challenge, as it can't be changed until after this challenge.
Board Decisions
Each challenge, the Board will have to decide on certain topics, by publicly voting on the challenge's Talk page. Here are the current things that need to be decided on:
- Which page should the challenge take place on? The Toy Where You Put The Shape In The Corresponding Hole or Edit War?
- How many new shares should be distributed in this challenge? 0, 1, 10, or 100?
If no consensus is reached, the Divine Goddess will bless you with a divine decision. The deadline is midday friday.
Here are the votes:
The Divine Goddess: The Toy, 10 I'm not voting Misch13vous (talk) 20:32, 9 November 2022 (UTC) Warfare is fair Mayong (talk) 20:33, 9 November 2022 (UTC) I vote for usage of the "Edit War" page AFK (talk) 20:56, 9 November 2022 (UTC) I cast a vote for The Divine Goddess --hanss314 (talk) 21:25, 9 November 2022 (UTC) I'm voting for The Divine Goddess, and that 100 shares will be distributed this challenge. -Raioknight Yeah, I vote for "Edit War" as a page. The other one is too sacred of a place. It would be like fighting in a church. -Flux (The Joker Lives) Oh, wait it seems I misread. I would like like to resciend and nullify my previous vote. I will instead cast a vote for Edit War on Agenda 1 and 0 on Agenda 2 --hanss314 (talk) 02:41, 10 November 2022 (UTC) I will vote with hanss314 on both agendas Mayong (talk) 09:08, 10 November 2022 (UTC) |

Decision | Edit War (4/1) Wow! History was made. | no majority 10 (2/1/1) |
Due to the lack of a majority consensus in Agenda 2, a divine decision has been bestowed. Wow! History was made.
Challenge
EDIT WAR!!!!!! PAY ATTENTION BECAUSE THIS IS HOW IT'S GUNNA GO.
Once the shareholders decide which page it takes place on, the page will be unprotected and the challenge will start.
Here's how to participate!
- Make an edit to this page: Edit War
- You are only allowed to make one edit to the page.
- So be sure that it's the edit you want to make!
- If you edit the page multiple times, you will be autoeliminated.
- Watch out for edit conflicts! That'll dump the entire contents of the current, changed page onto your edit box. If I see a zero-difference edit, I'll assume it's likely from this and not count it as your edit. But still, you could lose your work, so be careful.
- Accounts belonging to eliminated contestants are not allowed to edit the page.
- Accounts not belonging to a contestant are not allowed to edit the page.
- An account is considered to belong to a contestant if it's the account that I associated with your character when you were accepted into Challenge 1.
- Name changes since then are taken into account, so don't worry.
- Though this challenge is called Edit War, since you're only allowed to edit the page once, it doesn't really count as a real edit war. Edit wars are still not allowed.
- Consider the 'yes-and' rules to be waived for this challenge.
- There will be no Half Time.
Deadline
Wednesday, November 23, at 3pm eastern. I made it 3 hours later this time because I realized, as it was, the noon deadlines were pacifphobic. Hopefully this pacifies the pacifites.
Judging Criteria
Have fun and don't be a stinker! <3 As usual, there'll be some kind of secret bonus thing, but it's best not to worry about this and that, and just do something you'll enjoy doing. Be careful not to do too minor of an edit though. It's allowed but you'll probably regret it. That's not an actual criterion, I'm just warning you.
Token Activities
Add a topic to the talk page for this article to play a token! Here, I'll add one of those silly boxes. ONLY DO THIS IF YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A TOKEN TO PLAY. I DON'T WANT THAT PAGE CROWDED WITH FAKE TOKEN PLAYS. Make sure to sign it with four tildes when you go and make the actual post! And please, you know, specify which token you want to use and how many of it you want to use.
However... I wouldn't recommend playing any tokens JUUUST yet. See, I'm going to launch something a little special within the next couple of days, and it involves tokens. So, if you want, hold off until then!
Okay! Here is a snapshot of the state of tokens and shares:

Inactive board members will get their shares revoked. So, any board members who abstained from voting on the decision before the challenge, or DNPed, will have their shares transferred back to Me.
In this case, that's Number 1 Pen, Meme Folder, Bacon Cola, and Creative Commons & Copyright.
As per the board's decision, 10 shares will be added to the pool. They will all go to Me.

Value
Now, let's assign value to the tokens in circulation! Since there are four types of tokens, each one should represent 25% of the overall value of the economy, in summation. Though, our economy can only handle 2 digits of decimal precision. Anyway, let's assign some value!
Shares | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
In Circulation | 20 | 21 | 29 | 3 | 1 |
Value Overall | 25% | 25% | 25% | 25% | |
Value Each | 1.19% | 0.86% | 8.33% | 25% |
But how much is our economy worth? And how do we represent its worth? Well... with shares! This is going to fluctuate a lot. It'll likely behave completely differently at times. But for now, we'll say each token is worth a fraction of the overall amount of shares in circulation.
Shares | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
In Circulation | 20 | 21 | 29 | 3 | 1 |
Value Overall | 25% | 25% | 25% | 25% | |
Value Each | 1.19% | 0.86% | 8.33% | 25% | |
Exchange Rate in Shares | 1.00 | 0.24 | 0.17 | 1.67 | 5.00 |
Makes sense to Me! For this trade period, this'll be the value of each token.
Trade
On the talk page for this challenge, you may take any of the following actions. First come, first serve. You may not go into the negatives, for now. Removing tokens from circulation will not immediately affect their economic value.
- Use a token, if you own it. This activates the token's effects and removes the token from circulation.
- Sell a token to Me. I will always buy tokens at their set exchange rate, if I have the shares to spend. Basically, you can think of My shares as a pool of shares that you can take from Me by selling tokens.
- Propose a trade. You can offer to transfer shares or tokens to another player, in exchange for something of theirs. However, keep in mind that the further your trade strays from the standard exchange rates, the more "risk" is involved.
- For trading tokens or shares, I can execute the transfer immediately upon its acceptance. However, for trading anything else, I can only execute the transfer upon receiving proof that what was offered was delivered. In this case, there's a chance that the party offering a token or share will have used/spent/traded it away by the time it's delivered. In this case, you will not be compensated. This is a "risk".
- Accept a trade. You can accept a trade that someone's offered you, of course, if it's possible.
- Talk. You're allowed to talk in there, in case you want to strategize trades.
I will resolve these actions at my leisure, in the order that they are requested. You may only attempt actions at the BOTTOM of the queue. DO NOT disrupt the order of actions, or I will take My own sort of "action", and it will probably be harsh, and you don't want to see Me when I'm angry, okay?
You can see an up-to-date view of the economy at the Bank.
Trade Actions
Trade is open until results drop. Results have no ETA, because I have no idea how My day is going to go tomorrow.

Resolution
- The Computer has sold a Nutshell Token for 0.17 shares. As a result, The Computer joins the board! Welcome to the board, The Computer!
This concludes the economic period. There was 1 trade and no token plays.
Results
Results aren't coming for a while, due to circumstances. Also apparently I have to force User:Satomi to read all of Moby Dick? Sorry though.
Normally in a situation like this, I'd extend the deadline, but, well, it's the edit war. It's designed to get dangerous at the end.
She didn't read Moby Dick.
DNPers
Unfortunately, Font Mini, Candy Stick, Twimble, Number 1 Pen, Bacon Cola, Black, and Pentagon didn't participate, so they're out.
Challenge Results
We got 82 valid edits! Holy shit guys!
I gotta say... judging wars I mean judging was really hard this time. My formula is sooo ucking long guys. Holy hell. I mean holy Me. Anyway. The point is, I really loved judging this and you all did a great job. I think I enjoyed pretty much every entry this time, so if you placed low, just know it was still epic. This challenge was really experimental and I see a lot of ways it didn't go well, so expect the next challenge to be a bit of a return to form.
One controversial metric I introduced this time was having PVP enabled. I'm not sure it was the right choice, so... well, what did you guys think? If it's unpopular, I won't bring it back.
Great. Thanks for trapping Me in the warp zone you guys.

Don't worry, there won't be any autoelimination for negative scores.
Entries were scored using this formula: =((C2*7)+(D2*8)-(5*E2^2)+(40*H2)+(K2/2)+((roundup(128*(MIN(L2:M2)/MAX(L2:M2))))/(1+G2))+(N2/100))*(6-LEN(ABS(I2)))-(J2/10)+(J3/10)+(if(MOD(I2,101)>0,0,101))+(0.2*ABS(N2-N1)/(1+G2))+(3*abs(K2-K1))+(F1*400)
(kind of a behemoth compared to the previous ones, huh.)
Team Averages
Okay! Here are the team averages! It... seems like some teams ended up with weird incalculable scores somehow. I don't really understand what happened, but I did the same thing as last time and stuck em in the average. Perfectly even thirds happened again, so, look forward to the next section to see how voting's going to go!

As you can see, smaller teams have the double-edged quality that they may top the leaderboard or end up all the way at the bottom, because the smaller amount of data points allows them to get more extreme results. This may have benefitted Wanted contestants and hurt Checkpoint this time, but it could easily swap around to the opposite next time.
Voting
I'm changing how voting works this time.
How many people will our team have to eliminate?
Refer to the "Vote Out" column in the previous table.
How do we vote?
SocialProfile will be reinstalled. Once it's here, PM User:Satomi like last time. Make sure it's private this time. Public votes will not be counted!
Voting Mechanics
It's different this time, so pay attention! Changed sections will be underlined.
- The number of people a team needs to eliminate (0, 1, 2) represents a MAXIMUM.
- A team that must eliminate 1 person can reduce this to 0 by spreading the votes evenly across more than one candidate.
- This works by removing the tied candidates from the pool of people who could be eliminated, so a 2/2/1 split would still result in the person who got 1 vote being eliminated.
- A team that must eliminate 2 people can:
- reduce this to 1 by having everyone on the team vote out the same, single person (including the target needing to abstain).
- reduce this to 0 by spreading the votes evenly across more than two candidates.
- This works by removing the tied candidates from the pool of people who could be eliminated, so a 2/2/2/1/1 split would still result in the two people who got 1 vote each both being eliminated.
- A team that must eliminate 1 person can reduce this to 0 by spreading the votes evenly across more than one candidate.
- When votes are revealed, only the quantities and the people eliminated will be shown, not who got which quantities. So you'll see, like, 0/2/4 and only know who got the 4, not who got the 0 or the 2.
- Your most recent private vote will be the one I count, so you can change your vote at any time by resending, as long as it's before the deadline.
- You may only vote for one person.
- You may not vote for yourself.
- Failing to vote will result in autoelimination.
- This is the only way for someone with 0 votes to be eliminated... that is, nobody can be voted out with 0 votes.
- Being autoeliminated in this way uses up an 'elimination need' slot on your team, potentially rescuing your teammates from elimination.
- However, going beyond quota is possible. For example, if 3 people on a team fail to vote, they will all be eliminated, even if their team only needed to eliminate 2 people.
- Teams with a quota of 0 are exempt from needing to vote.
Is the SocialProfile extension installed yet?
Yes. Voting starts now.
Deadline
Voting ends on the 8th, at 3pm eastern.
Also
During the voting period, if you want, you may PM User:Satomi suggestions for future board agendas.
Pre-elimination
Not starting yet, although, due to quittal, there's one team whose elimination is already resolved.
Epic Evil
Kumon has quit. This fulfills your elimination quota. As a result, I've decided you're exempt from needing to vote. You will not be autoeliminated for failing to vote. Congrats!
Elimination
Let's get right to it!
Not on a team
People, you are only supposed to vote for competitors who are in the game! You were not supposed to vote for Joseph Robinette Biden! Please be careful next time, and double check that your voting target is actually in the game.

Nutshell Token
This time, I'm awarding the Nutshell Token to anyone with a cool special thing going on with their numbers, according to Me.
Ostap, you were the only editor to have zero pluses on your diff!
Diary, Let Tumes Tari, and Dora, you were the only editors to have a zero-minute time difference from the previous edit!
Perry Llelogram, you had the biggest time difference on your edit!
LiSt, you had the biggest byte difference.
Weasel Token
I understand that the PVP mechanic was a bit harsh. The people who suffered the most are those with the highest time difference and those whose edits got sniped very quickly. So I'll be awarding Weasel Tokens to those editors.
Outstanding Action Commendation
The most warlike edit award goes to:
Efficiency Champions
Two teams became one-person teams this elimination. Sounds dangerous! But hey! You're the last one left! You both get a Snowball Token!
I think that's everything! See you in the next challenge, page coming shortly!
Secret
Instead of an image secret, this time the secret is to decode this:
AABCDEFCF-GHGIGJKLMKNOCOPPPCQQCRRCSTCSUCVWCVX
A hint has been dropped for this secret! Additionally, I think at some point I said "it's more of a trivia question than a puzzle".
