Cambodia
Cambodia, formerly Kampuchea, is a country in Southeast Asia that is famously home to the impressive Angkor Wat, one of the largest temples on the planet. It's even on their flag! On the banks of the Mekong River is the capital city of Phnom Penh. Cambodia's prevalent language is Khmer.
Religion
95% of the Cambodian population subscribes to Theravada, the oldest school of thought in Buddhism, dating back over two millennia. Myanmar and Sri Lanka are the other two countries where Theravada is the state religion, whereas Laos and Thailand also have predominantly Theravada populations in officially secular countries. In contrast, Mahayana, a more liberal school of thought, is more dominant in the likes of China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Vietnam. The other major school is Vajrayana, whose form of Buddhism is the state religion of Bhutan and has fused with Mahayana in Tibet.
