Solomon Islands
The Solomon Islands were named after an ancient Israeli king (no, not the current State of Israel) after a Spanish explorer claimed to have found his riches. They saw some brutal action during World War II. Outside of politics, the capital Honiara has a bustling central market. There's also New Georgia, whose name either has correlation to the state of Georgia or the country of Georgia.
