Bhutan is a remote Himalayan kingdom where history is alive and well. Its name, འབྲུག་ཡུལ་ (Druk Yul), means "Land of the Thunder Dragon". The monarch is named the Druk Gyalpo, meaning "Thunder Dragon King". Bhutan is also home to Kangkar Pünzum (White Peak of the Three Spiritual Brothers), Earth's highest peak that hasn't been climbed yet. This is due to local spiritual beliefs prohibiting anyone from climbing over 6,000 feet.
