Democratic Republic of the Congo
While many countries speak French, the most populous francophone country isn't France. It's the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a very diverse country. It is also the second-biggest in Africa behind Algeria. Its capital Kinshasa lies on the Congo River, adjacent to the Republic of the Congo and its capital Brazzaville. Not counting Rome and Vatican City, the distance between both cities is the closest between any two capitals in the world. Congo is also bordered by the Central African Republic, South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania (across Lake Tanganyika), Zambia, Angola (including the Cabinda Province), and the South Atlantic Ocean.
Congo has a pretty brutal modern history, from Belgian colonialism to the CIA-installed Zaire to the modern day. Thankfully, people are advocating by the masses for Congolese liberation.
