Bhutan is a remote Himalayan kingdom where history is alive and well. Its name, འབྲུག་ཡུལ་ (Druk Yul), means "Land of the Thunder Dragon". The monarch is named the Druk Gyalpo, meaning "Thunder Dragon King".
